July 2010 Hearing Decision Average Timing and Ranking

Out of 147 SSA hearing offices (ODARs) ranked for processing time, the Voorhees Hearing Office ranked number 103, totaling 440 days average to process a case and the Newark hearing office ranked number 125 out of 147 with an average of 492 days to process a case. This means that it will take about a year and a half to have a hearing or to get a decision.

One of the reasons that the New Jersey hearing offices are so sluggish is the very high volume of people applying for benefits due to the national recession and economic conditions.

Due to the long delay at the hearings level, it is important to keep Social Security updated as to medical treatment and records. For a free consultation, contact our firm.
