The Process ( scroll back )

Applying for benefits is an arduous and document-heavy process, which is why you should always proceed with a skilled attorney in your corner. Your application will include information about your disability, as well as medical records and forms completed by your medical provider, among other important documents. We’ll then submit your claim and await its approval. Typically, it will take anywhere between three and five months to process your claim. If you qualify, you’ll receive your benefits, however, if your claim is denied, you may have to go through one or more stages of the appeal process.

SSD claims aren’t always granted from the start. Fortunately, however, with a competent attorney on your side, you can effectively appeal your denial with the Social Security Administration. There are four potential stages to the appeals process, including the reconsideration appeal, administrative law judge hearings, Appeals Council hearings, and federal court appeals. Our legal team can guide you, each step of the way, and fight for the benefits you need to move on with your life.

The Benefits ( scroll back )

SSDI provides individuals who cannot work because of mental or physical conditions with benefits that are tied to their earning history and the work credits they’ve built over time. The specific benefits you may receive depend on your medical situation and your employment record, but they often include monthly disability payments and eventual access to Medicare after the required waiting period. In some cases, eligible dependents may qualify for additional benefits as well.

Physical Conditions ( scroll back )

Various medical conditions and injuries are eligible for Social Security benefits, but the extent to which the medical condition impacts a person’s life will determine whether they qualify. Just some of the most common medical conditions that qualify for benefits include cancer, arthritis, autoimmune disorders, diabetes, neck injuries, and spinal cord injuries, though a wide array of other injuries and medical conditions can also qualify.

Mental Conditions ( scroll back )

If you struggle with depression, bipolar disorder, early-onset Alzheimer’s disease, PTSD, or another mental condition, you may find yourself unable to continue working. Fortunately, the Social Security Administration recognizes these and other mental conditions as qualifying disabilities and, in many cases, will grant benefits to those unable to return to work because of them.
